Board of Accountancy complaints committee finds sufficient evidence in two cases

The Board of Accountancy complaints committee voted on Jan. 10 to find sufficient evidence of violations in agency case 24-014 and agency case 24-015, moving both matters forward for whatever next steps the board’s enforcement process requires.
Scott Wright, a committee member who moved the first motion, said, “I make a motion for a finding of sufficient evidence of a violation of one or more board rules and or statutes.” Legal counsel reminded members that changes to public-meeting rules require recording each member’s vote by name; the committee then conducted roll-call votes and the motions carried. The transcript shows each eligible voting member recorded as voting in the affirmative on the two motions.
The votes were taken in public session following an earlier executive session and were read aloud by name into the record. Raul Valdivia, serving as a board liaison to the committee, did not vote in these matters because the liaison role is nonvoting. The committee did not indicate any substantive discussion or proposed amendments to either motion before the votes.
