Council staff said they will submit a Travel Oregon recreation-ready grant application and reported five volunteers for a project steering committee, including a named councilor and four community members.
"I put a few words out in the community, asked if people would be interested in serving on that project steering committee. And I have gotten 5 responses on that project steering committee, including councilor Thompson and then 4 other community members who are interested," a staff member said. The presenter expected to submit the grant application that day or the next and said the destination management office had provided a supportive letter.
Separately, staff updated the council on a recent street repair: residents complained that a trench repair was not holding up, so staff authorized a patch with plant-mix asphalt, and contractors offered to redistribute gravel to neighboring alleys as an accommodation. The council thanked staff and the contractors for the timely patching.
Next steps: staff will file the grant application and, if successful, proceed with the proposed steering committee work; street repairs will continue to be scheduled as needed.
