MLAC caucuses, loses quorum and agrees to carry SB 1506 discussion to next meeting

Co-chair Patrick Priest opened the one-hour special meeting and set timing rules, including a 45-minute check-in for possible caucus. After the sponsor presentation and agency discussion, MLAC paused to caucus at 10:45 to allow management and labor caucuses to confer on guardrails and possible amendments.
When several members reported they had to leave because the meeting exceeded their available time, the committee lost quorum and could not take further action. Administrator Watson confirmed the next meeting is longer and scheduled for February 5, when the committee will continue discussion and consider amendments. "We will have more time to discuss this," staff said, and the sponsor and agency staff indicated they would accept feedback and draft technical changes ahead of the next meeting.
