Cochair Patrick Priest and administrator Terry Watson presented MLAC's 2026 work plan, which lists short‑term goals (education conference May 7, OSHA conference June 16) and long‑term goals through 2027. Priest asked members to review the plan and identify where MLAC can add value. “So we have the short term goals for this year,” Watson said, outlining planned off‑site meetings and regulatory tours to increase understanding of agencies that interact with workers' compensation.
Members spent the bulk of the meeting debating the scope and purpose of a proposed health‑care summit. Emily Cronin, who co‑chaired the access‑to‑care subcommittee, pressed for a targeted summit focused on actionable work‑comp problems and a stakeholder list that includes hospital systems and specialty providers. “We want perspectives and feedback from everybody who has an interest, but I want to see how we can fix or what we can do to fix this, which is kind of where we're charged,” Cronin said. The committee agreed that Terry Watson, Emily Cronin and Kim Schlessinger (or other volunteers) will compile a problem list and report back at the April meeting.
