The New Strawn City Council adopted Ordinance 2024-07, the Standard Traffic Ordinance, at its meeting on Nov. 14. "Christiansen moved, seconded by Gilkison to approve Ordinance 2024-07 Standard Traffic Ordinance as presented. Motion carried by the show of hands 4-0," the minutes state.
Council also authorized a one-time expenditure of $420 to purchase speed-limit signs tied to the ordinance. The motions were presented by Council member David Christiansen and seconded by Butch Gilkison and recorded as unanimous (4-0) votes; one member, Stephanie Baker, was absent. The ordinance adoption gives the city a local enforcement framework for traffic regulations and directs staff to install new signage.
