Council approves routine purchase caps for maintenance supplies

The New Strawn City Council approved its consent agenda on Jan. 9, 2025, establishing 2025 spending caps to allow the Maintenance Operator to purchase routine supplies without separate council approval. Jeanne Haas moved and Johnny Hernandez seconded the motion to adopt the consent agenda; the motion carried 5-0.
The consent items include specific 2025 authorization limits: diesel up to $2,500 (General Fund); fish food up to $3,000 (Special Park Fund); cold patch up to $1,000 (Special Highway Fund); weed killer up to $2,000 (General Fund); road salt up to $4,000 (Special Highway Fund); propane up to $800 (General Fund); and gravel/rock up to $750 (Special Highway Fund). The consent packet also included approval of meeting minutes for Dec. 12, 2024; warrants totaling $27,997.07 (Dec. 9, 2024'Jan. 7, 2025); and December payroll of $10,338.03.
Council Member Jeanne Haas confirmed with Maintenance Operator Steven Dwight that the authorized fund amounts were sufficient. The council approved the consent agenda as presented.
