Chair Elizabeth Ulmer reviewed draft grant requirements and ceilings: scholarships may be paid to cover cost of attendance (including fees and course materials) and the draft sets caps of $5,000 per university student and $3,000 per community college student as ceilings to be further refined in the grant agreement.
Members settled on eligibility language requiring enrolled students to take at least 1.5 quarter (0.25-system) or 4 semester credits per term to avoid awarding a large scholarship for a single short course. The committee also raised the minimum GPA maintenance requirement from 2.0 to 2.5 while recognizing the grantee agreement can impose stricter thresholds. "I would love to...raise this to 2.5," Chair Ulmer said, and the committee agreed to that change.
