Access to Care subcommittee reports progress, readies recommendations for Nov. 6

Kim Schlessinger, cochair of the Access to Care subcommittee, told MLAC the group met eight times between May and September and has been compiling provider perspectives, DCBS research and stakeholder input into a spreadsheet 'road map' of barriers and proposed solutions.
"The main purpose is for us to identify the key barriers to accessing timely and appropriate care for our injured workers," Schlessinger said. She described presentations the subcommittee received from managed‑care organizations, providers and DCBS research and said the cochairs will finalize recommendations for the Nov. 6 MLAC meeting.
Schlessinger said the subcommittee's objectives include assessing provider participation barriers, exploring expanded provider roles and recommending policy changes to reduce administrative burdens. Members were encouraged to review posted materials on the MLAC website ahead of the November meeting.
