Police chief says candidate unresponsive as department renews search for part-time officer

Police Chief David Pernice told the Council that he has been unable to contact a newly approved hire from the last meeting and will pursue other candidates. "He said he has tried to make contact but has had no luck," Pernice reported, and he said he plans to contact the consortium and coordinate oral exams with the Civil Service Commission.
Pernice said the department would like to hire two part-time officers but that only one had been approved by Council previously; Council members agreed to continue the search for one part-time officer. The chief noted there are 32 candidates remaining on the consortium list and that he will send letters and set up oral examinations as the next steps.
