Following a council recess for an executive session to discuss non-elected personnel under K.S.A. 75-4319(b)(1), the open meeting resumed and the Nickerson City Council voted to increase Clerk Brown’s hourly wage by $1.00 as a merit raise. The motion was moved by Council Member Richard and seconded by Council Member Murphy; the vote recorded YES from Willhaus, Richard, Murphy and Daily.
The council announced the executive session and stated that the open meeting would resume at 5:47 p.m. The transcript records that no decisions were made during the executive session itself; the wage increase motion was made in open session after the meeting resumed. The council did not record the new hourly rate, only the $1.00 increase amount.
