Council hears staff updates on nuisance property, truck repair, fiber installation and community events

Council received several staff reports. Code Enforcement noted the nuisance property at Myers on 3rd Street was given additional time and has made some improvements but not much. Maintenance Operator Steven Dwight reported the truck hoist cylinder has been fixed and installed at a cost of $828.47; the minutes state that Kwikom is working "up north" to install fiber. Mayor Rhonda Taylor thanked 4 Rivers and Maintenance Operator Dwight for hanging veterans' banners.
City Clerk Lana Johnson provided administrative updates: City Hall will be closed Dec. 24 and Dec. 25 (Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) and Jan. 1, 2025 (New Year’s Day). The 2024 audit is scheduled for Feb. 17, 2025. Clerk Johnson also listed community center rental dates in December and January and noted chamber radio ad benefits being discussed for 2025.
