Resident seeks clarity after utility markings on Arrowhead property

Ryan Nelson told the council he had found stakes marking water and gas lines on his Arrowhead property and wanted confirmation whether the city planned work there. "I just wanted to verify with the City if you guys were doing any work on my property up here on Arrowhead," Nelson said.
Clerk Lana Johnson replied that the matter had been discussed earlier and Maintenance Operator Steven Dwight said the markings were the result of a One-Call locate. Mayor Rhonda Taylor noted One-Call locates occur when a utility is present. Nelson said he wanted to be notified before any work and indicated he would remove the stakes if the party marking them was not authorized to work in the easement.
There was no formal action attached to the comment; staff recorded that the locate was in the easement and the maintenance operator noted crews were "just doing their job."
