The New Strawn City Council authorized City Clerk Lana Johnson to purchase a copier/printer/scanner from Heartland Office Systems for $3,795, with funds to be drawn from the city's Equipment account; Jeanne Haas moved and Butch Gilkison seconded the motion, which passed 5-0.
Clerk Johnson also provided the Community Center rental calendar for September and October, noting events such as the New Strawn Library on Sept. 11 and the NSCIO Spooky Stroll scheduled for Oct. 26. The council voted 5-0 to donate $250 to NSCIO for that event. The council additionally approved Yard of the Month award plans (two categories in October and a December award) and giving $25 Chamber Bucks to each of the top five Christmas yards.
