City Administrator Nathan (speaker 1) told the Amity City Council that the Oregon Department of Transportation awarded the city a small-city allotment grant of about $205,000 to repair selected streets.
Nathan described the project scope (removal of existing asphalt, road-base repair and repaving) and named primary streets in the project description: Enos Street from 3rd North to the dead end and Stanley Avenue from 4th Street North to 2nd Street; West 2nd Street may be included as funding allows. He explained the grant's reimbursement structure and said the city can request a 50% upfront payment as a cash-flow option. "In the past, we have taken advantage of that 50% request up front," Nathan said.
Councilors asked whether two years would be enough to complete the work and discussed estimated project costs and bid timing; Nathan said he anticipates the projects being bid and completed within the calendar year if schedules align. The council approved a resolution establishing the grant program and to move forward with the grant agreement and application process.
