Assessor announces March–April property inspections ahead of April 1 grand‑list deadline

Municipal Assessor Justin Mason told the Select Board that the town's 2025 grand‑list property inspections will be conducted on Tuesdays in late March and April to capture any reported or noticed changes for valuation. Mason said inspections are scheduled for March 25 and April 1, 8 and 15, and he reiterated inspections will reflect each property's condition as of April 1 for the grand list.
"Property inspections are performed on properties with reported or notice changes to determine the fair market value or update and assess value for the town's grand list," Justin Mason said. He told the board property and dog information forms were mailed to all Johnson property owners, appointments are optional, and owners will be notified by mail of any value changes in spring. Board members asked whether inspection dates after April 1 would be reflected on the grand list; Mason confirmed staff will record the April 1 condition in those cases and noted owners retain the right to seek abatement under statutory reasons.
