Beautification committee reports public-art, plantings and seeks Vermont Arts Council grant

The beautification committee presented a summary of the past year’s work and near-term plans and said it intends to apply for a Vermont Arts Council grant to support trailhead artwork.
Kyle, introduced by the chair as the committee’s representative, listed accomplishments including a voter-approved reserve fund, hundreds of planted bulbs at public sites, installation of solar lights in the village green, collaboration with Vermont State University students on wayfinding signage, and an upcoming flower sculpture for Old Mill Park. "We have the flower sculpture that's going into Old Mill Park," Kyle said, and noted plans to circulate a call to artists to submit work for the trailhead and to include stipends for selected artists.
Kyle said Joe Morrison had submitted a letter of interest to join the committee and the committee would like to expand membership (current seats and desired number discussed). The committee also requested board support in considering a long-term town landscaping/gardening position to handle maintenance for the town’s growing green spaces.
