Residents and volunteers urge better promotion and coordination for Bandon food programs

Donna Hutchison, speaking for the Lions, said she would help promote the senior meals to increase attendance. A Zoom participant identified as Amy explained the senior nutrition program is run by the South Coast Business Corporation in Coos Bay and serves multiple towns in the region; she confirmed volunteer shortages for Meals on Wheels and said the barn program meets three times a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday). Amy offered to help with promotion. Staff and council members discussed collaboration among groups such as Bandon Feeds the Hungry, Food and Faith, Good Neighbors and Restoration Worship Center to avoid duplication and cover gaps in service.
Council members asked that organizations complete application narratives in future funding cycles and urged local volunteers to assist with outreach so that existing programs can increase utilization and service coverage.
