Planning staff previews FEMA-related code changes, housing updates and park outreach

Planning staff used the meeting’s later agenda items to preview several upcoming efforts: a set of code amendments to reflect new FEMA-related standards that the city must adopt by June; a housing code update project (work on duplex-related language) being developed with Cascadia Partners; and outreach for a city park master plan, including an open house scheduled for March 26.
Solon, a planning staff member, said the park master plan advisory committee met and staff will host a public open house March 26 from 5:00–7:00 p.m. to seek public feedback. "It's going to be on March 26 from 5 to 7 PM at the barn," Solon said, encouraging public participation. Staff also said they plan a March work session on code amendments so commissioners are not surprised when the April public hearings occur.
Staff noted that one transportation open house and an online survey for Highway 101 updates remain available and that paper copies of the transportation survey are available at the planning office. Staff asked commissioners to watch for public-hearing notices on housing code updates and FEMA-related changes scheduled later this spring.
