Resident may relocate sewer main for new home at 220 Sylvan pending KDHE approval

At the April 9 meeting, Nortonville resident Darrin Schmidt told the council he plans to build a new home at 220 Sylvan and requested permission to remove part of an existing sewer main that would interfere with his planned basement. Schmidt asked the council to allow the sewer main to be moved and for a manhole to be removed or relocated.
City Superintendent Steve Pruett said he has contacted the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) about the proposed change and is awaiting a response. The council's consensus was to allow the relocation provided KDHE approves the change and Schmidt covers all costs, including any engineered plans, materials, and dirt work. The minutes note Schmidt left the meeting at 6:44 p.m.
