Bethel rolls out first legislative platform; superintendent asks community to advocate

Superintendent Craig Sproles said Bethel SD 52 adopted its first legislative platform and urged community members to thank the legislature for K–12 investments and to press for funding changes that more accurately reflect services the district provides. He encouraged advocacy for early literacy and summer programming during the long session that begins in January.
Sproles pointed to Gov. Kotek’s proposed biennial budget—about $11.4 billion and a double-digit percentage increase—as a significant state-level commitment to public education, and asked the community to use provided links to contact local legislators. He emphasized accountability and the need for funding models that reliably cover the expanded services schools now provide.
