Commissioners set industry-standard rates for fairgrounds use by incident management teams

The Dolores County Board approved a motion July 6 setting an industry-standard reimbursement for outside incident management teams using county facilities at the fairgrounds. The board recorded a daily building-and-utilities rate of roughly $1,200 for teams that use county structures and discussed additional per-day ground-use amounts of $500 to $800 depending on needs.
"The industry standard right now, $1,200 for the buildings and utilities," the Chair said when the board reviewed possible fees and logistics for hosting incident-management operations. Commissioners discussed how much of the fairgrounds could be used without impacting adjacent gravel-pit operations, the number of trailers and tents likely needed, and the probable duration of deployments. The board moved and approved the proposed reimbursement terms and asked staff to coordinate site visits and finalize agreements with incident managers.
The motion includes directing staff to clarify whether the public service center would remain free for community meetings and to seek cost-recovery arrangements for larger operations at the fairgrounds. County staff said they would meet with the incident-management team on site and return final paperwork to the board for ratification if necessary.
