"Make a motion to allocate $43,060.28 and with 5 ratings for the sheriff's office and the $24,500 for the sheriff's... a total amount of $67,526.20," the chair said when making the funding motion. Officials explained that test units had been loaned and performed better than alternatives considered; commissioners noted the current fund balance in Title 3 supported the purchase. The motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
Staff said programming the radios will take roughly a week after delivery and may require future reprogramming as systems evolve. Commissioners framed this as an investment in emergency communications after recounting an incident where local officers lacked reliable dispatcher contact during a response.
