Lincoln Selectboard moves forward with Acker Waste contract, approves $1,600 transfer-station shed

Selectboard members voted to advance transfer-station arrangements at their March 17 meeting. Town Administrator Trish Waugh said a three-year contract had been sent to Acker Waste Management and that Acker is expected to provide a container to accept household trash starting Saturday, April 4, pending final confirmation.
During the discussion Trish noted a neighbor’s public comment raised concerns about the town’s closed landfill and ongoing monitoring. Trish reported that a state representative advised landfill monitoring is covered under a separate certification; she will follow up with the neighbor, Owen Farnsworth, and share Lincoln’s monitoring history (landfill closed 1993 and monitored for 20 years).
Joe Martell presented a quote for an 8x10 transfer-station shed at $1,600 including delivery; Tim McGowan moved and Lisa Sargent seconded approval of the purchase not to exceed $1,600, and the motion passed 5–0. The Selectboard also discussed logistics for the container start date and the remaining public comment period for the transfer-station certification.
