Mayor Curtis S. Thomas asked staff about the status of a grant for 500 N and about a potential $100,000 allocation to chip-seal and overlay town streets. Staff member Kort told the council the 500 N project is included in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) as a long-range planning item and that the federal grant would fund most of it while the city would be responsible for a 7% matching share. Kort said the schedule currently shows the project in the 2028'029 timeframe.
No formal commitment of the $100,000 was recorded in the minutes; the exchange was informational and council did not take a vote on bonding or appropriation at the Dec. 10 meeting. The item remains in the council's long-range planning considerations for future budget cycles.
