Principal and partners describe Caring for Kids model serving 18 schools and 11,000 students

Principal Amir Pugsley and a Caring for Kids representative briefed the board on Jan. 27 about the district partnership model and local outcomes.
Pugsley described the four-step process—engage, connect, empower and coach—and explained how Banneker uses partner support for staff appreciation, family engagement nights and academic supports. The presenters said Caring for Kids now operates in 18 schools and serves “over 11,000 students,” and highlighted a donated mini soccer pitch from local partners as an example of in-kind support.
Board members asked how the program scales to additional schools; presenters said the network onboards 3–4 schools per year and provides a partner coach during the first year. "We keep it to 3 to 4 schools every year," a Caring for Kids speaker said when asked about expansion plans. The board thanked presenters and invited follow-up questions as schools are added.
