Board of Education launches five-year strategic planning process with 40 stakeholders

The Board of Education convened a roughly 40-member stakeholder group to begin drafting a five-year roadmap for the district, focusing first on the district’s mission and vision and on developing belief statements, a presenter said. "The Board of Education, embraced on this new journey to make this road map for the next 5 years for the district and what's best for kids at the end of the day," the presenter said.

The presenter said the group includes "students, classified staff members, certified staff members, administrators, parents, and those really important community members" and that the process will include an analysis of the district to guide future decisions. A staff member summarized earlier conversation as covering "things that are common across the district, some of the challenges that we have, and some of the great stories of the overcoming challenges and the things that our students are able to do and the passion that we have." The meeting emphasized a data-informed approach and signaled further, potentially "crucial conversations" ahead but did not record any formal votes or motions at this session.

Next steps described in the session include continued review of mission and vision language and a district analysis to identify priorities and needs.
