Commissioners approved a series of permanent and temporary easements to permit construction of the McFarland/Eisenhower roundabout and related utility work. Public works staff explained the parcels involved, the square footage to be acquired for permanent easement near Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church (approximately 9,846 sq ft) and payments for both permanent easement ($4,069.20) and a separate permanent utility easement ($927.71) to allow undergrounding of Evergy and telecom lines.
Staff said the church had no objection and that the temporary construction easement ($480.32) would allow sidewalk continuity during construction. Commissioners approved additional small utility easements in Red Bud Ridge (payments of $404.70 and no charge for a separate connection where repairs were made) and a street right-of-way easement in the John Montgomery annexation plan ($2,388.35) to connect sidewalks and utilities to the roundabout. Motions for each easement were moved, seconded and passed by voice vote.
