The Junction City Commission voted to approve a $10,000 award from opioid-related municipal funds to Circle A Club to finance restroom and accessibility repairs at its longtime recovery facility on West 7th Street.
Charles Osborne, who said he represents Circle A Club, told commissioners the 501(c)(3) has hosted daily Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings for years and that meetings average about 15 attendees. “Thousands of people have recovered through that facility,” Osborne said, describing routine maintenance and a need to repair restrooms and paint exterior surfaces visible from Heritage Park.
Staff advised commissioners that peer-support meeting accessibility and facility upkeep are eligible opioid-fund uses and recommended approval. A commissioner moved to approve the $10,000 request; the motion was seconded and the commission voted to carry the motion.
Osborne thanked the commission after the vote and said county funding previously helped cover annual maintenance. The award will be used for repairs that staff said support treatment access and continuity for recovery meetings.
