Council hears estimate of $25,000-plus for sewer repair at 503 Locust; staff to issue RFP

Maintenance Supervisor Danny Gamblin reported that crews and contractors videoed the sewer line at 503 Locust and observed an offset pipe and tree-root intrusion. Several contractors attempted inspection; Mayer Specialty provided video evidence showing the condition. Gamblin said repair estimates were likely to exceed $25,000 and asked the council to authorize preparing an RFP for bids.
Gamblin additionally requested permission to solicit bids for street repairs in 2025 and described maintenance needs at the municipal pool, including bathhouse work, replacement of filter sand and seals, and a new sun shade. He said the city's water system is functioning but staff are experiencing communication problems between towers and recommended a new antenna for the tower per vendor advice.
