Mayor Jon Brady presided over a hearing on the city's Revenue Neutral Rate and the 2025 budget on Sept. 11, 2024. Jim Long, the budget presenter, said the 2025 RNR is 71.859 mills and indicated that figure would generate the same amount of tax dollars as the prior year. The council closed the public hearing after a single public question and moved to adopt the budget.
The council voted unanimously to exceed the RNR where needed and then approved the full 2025 budget on a roll-call vote (Carol Baughman, Hanna Smith, Matt Craig, Kyle Maichel and Cheryl Miller all voting yes). Council members were instructed to sign the budget approval, which must be filed with the County Clerk by Oct. 1. Public commenter Cait Curtis asked for clarification on distribution changes during the RNR hearing; no further public comment was recorded. The budget adoption followed an auditor's presentation earlier in the meeting and included staff recommendations reviewed by Long.
