Ozawkie council approves four community events for 2025; Easter set for April 19

Mayor Loren Lutes asked the council to support four community events in 2025: an Easter event, annual garage sales, the Heritage Festival and a holiday activity. Easter was given an approved date of April 19 with a working start time of 1 p.m.; the mayor said five volunteers are secured, including an Easter Bunny for photos, and several local businesses and families have pledged donations or support. Councilmember Kevin Klenklen questioned why the city was entering the "activity business," to which Mayor Lutes replied, "we are simply filling the current void." Councilmembers Feuerborn, Heller and Griffin indicated support and the council agreed to proceed.
Separately, the Meriden/Ozawkie Library requested use of the city park for a Summer Reading Kickoff on May 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The library reported an attendance estimate between 100 and 200 and noted last year’s event drew more than 150 people when held in the township hall; the council approved the park use request unanimously.
