Chief Moore told the City Council that the police department's call volume rose sharply in 2025, from 1,761 calls to 3,465, an increase of 1,704 calls. He said the department has more applicants for open positions than in prior years and linked improved recruiting to the department's social-media presence.
On public comments about police social media, Chief Moore said the departmentwhich has "over 4,000 followers" on its website and social channelsuses posts to raise awareness. He also said the department completed an evidence audit and is running out of storage space; the minutes note a request to be authorized to destroy certain CBD-shop evidence to free shelving space. The increased call volume was cited as a reason to anticipate heavier service demands in 2026 related to nearby development projects.
