At the start of the May 18 meeting, Sudbury resident and Anti‑Hate Task Force member Noah Stern Weber said the district’s student connectedness survey does not capture the experiences of Jewish students and cited statewide hate‑crime and bias statistics as context for recommending action. Weber said he intends to advocate for the Task Force recommendation to establish a Jewish Parent Advisory Council to give Jewish families a formal advisory channel to the district.
Julie Durgin‑Sicree, speaking as a private citizen, urged the Committee to rebuild public trust after a recent vote of no confidence, calling for transparency, respectful communication and consistent leadership. The Committee did not take action during the public comment period; the Anti‑Hate Task Force charge and related items remain on the consent calendar and subcommittees will determine next steps.
