The Ozawkie City Council voted unanimously Dec. 9 to approve a purchase agreement with Dollar General after the city attorney reported no problems with the contract. Mayor Loren Lutes reviewed the plan and presented the agreement to council members.
City Attorney Tom Barnes told the council he “saw nothing worth noting” in the agreement, and Councilmember Kevin Klenklen moved to approve the contract; Malcolm Griffin seconded the motion and the vote passed unanimously. No purchase price or closing date was recorded in the minutes; the agreement text and any dates were not specified for public record in the meeting minutes. The council did not request additional legal review before approval. The council will address any remaining implementation details in future meetings if necessary.
