The Ozawkie City Council voted unanimously Aug. 12 to appoint Tom Barnes II of Stumbo Hanson Law as the city's attorney after considering competing proposals for legal services.
Kevin Klenklen moved to appoint Barnes, citing the city's long-standing relationship with Stumbo Hanson Law and a recommendation from Lee Hendricks; Malcolm Griffin seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Council minutes note another firm had submitted a proposal at $300 per hour, which was discussed during the decision.
