City manager: comprehensive plan update will better align CIP and zoning; commission to play lead role

The city manager briefed the commission on the ongoing comprehensive plan update and described how the draft work (with consultant Confluence) will be finalized in the coming months. He said the CIP must be reconciled with the older comprehensive plan and that the update will help the CIP and zoning regulations fit municipal goals better.
"You're working on a comprehensive plan process... So what you're doing here is trying to make a modern capital improvement plan work with a comprehensive plan that was developed in 2004, 2005," the city manager said. He encouraged the planning commission to engage in the upcoming public sessions and said the commission will have opportunities to contribute to future ordinances and zoning changes once the plan is adopted.
