City staff warns some state match programs are ending; offices will need local matches or alternative funding

Commissioners pressed staff about the reliability of grant matches for water and infrastructure projects. A staff member summarized recent changes in state programs that had used ARPA funds to provide match dollars for federal grants and said some of that match money was being withdrawn, increasing the need for local matching funds or alternate loan programs.
"That part of the matching program will be going away... We're hoping that they'll replace that with some other form of grant match availability to cities and counties, but, we would be required to come up with those funds," a city staff member said, adding the city will look to its capital improvement fund, utility funds, investment interest and other sources and continue applying for grants and foundation support when possible.
