City selects Vic Finch as community development director and chief building official

City Manager announced at the June 10 meeting that the commission had selected Vic Finch as the new community development director and chief building official.
"His name is Vic Finch," the city manager said, describing Finch as an Ottawa native with more than 30 years of experience in building and code review and noting Finch currently supervises building safety teams in Overland Park. Finch addressed the commission and said he was honored to return to his hometown and expects to begin July 6. "It's a big change for me and my family...I'm really excited," Finch said.
Commissioners welcomed Finch, thanked him for prior informal help during the city's transition period and noted the hire will consolidate community development and chief building official duties under his leadership. The commission did not take additional action at this meeting beyond the announcement.
