Heritage Pines outlines Environmental Solutions plan to 'knock back' vines and remove dead brush in NWRA-33 wetland

Board Chair Kathleen Lonergan read an amended scope of work from Environmental Solutions (ES) describing a targeted cleanup in wetland NWRA‑33. The scope specifies removal and disposal of several dead or dying bushes around the perimeter, cutting two dead oak and maple tree branches in the southwest portion adjacent to water lilies, and attempts to 'kill back' vines on the north and southeast sides 'by both cutting at the water level and selective use of herbicide.'
Lonergan noted ES will not be able to eliminate canopy vines but will 'knock them back meaningfully.' The scope also says crews will hand-pull standing weeds and use weed-whacking where mowing is unsafe because of slope and standing water. Chuck Adams said the previously approved ES proposal was amended and re-submitted and that work inside NWRA‑33 will proceed once coordinated with the District Engineer.
The board contrasted ES’s selective, aesthetic handwork with A‑Z Tree Service’s forestry-mulcher approach, which 'grinds everything,' and discussed which methods are appropriate for different areas.
