The Overbrook City Council voted 5‑0 to raise water rates by 5% effective Jan. 1, 2025 to help cover increased charges passed to the city by the rural water provider.
Council Member Kyle Maichel noted the increases the city faces from the rural water supplier and recommended that water rates be revisited annually. Council Member Cheryl Miller moved to increase the water rate 5% for 2025 (effective Jan. 1); Hanna Smith seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
City staff did not provide a projected dollar impact per household in the minutes; the motion directs staff to implement the rate change beginning Jan. 1, 2025 and to include rate discussions in future annual reviews.
