Newell council approves pool account transfer, wage increase and routine fund moves

The Newell City Council on July 6 approved a series of financial resolutions and routine motions, including closing Pool CD #X6910 and depositing the proceeds into the pool checking account. The pool transfer (Resolution #09-26) passed on a roll-call vote, 4–1; Councilmember Nielsen cast the lone dissent. The council also adopted a wage resolution (Resolution #10-26) that implements a $2.00 increase for full-time employees "upon completion" as written, and approved general fund transfers in Resolution #11-26.
Clerk Heather Copp presented the pool-CD resolution and the transfers. Robinson moved to adopt Resolution #09-26; Henrich seconded. The wage and transfer resolutions passed on separate motions and were recorded as approved by voice vote. Copp also reported routine administrative actions including approval of claims, June financials (revenues month-to-date $130,143.87; expenses $297,886.63) and the consent agenda. The council approved several other agenda motions, including a Corn Belt shed permit and the city contribution of $1,000 for Watermelon Days.
