Board approves school renewal plans aligned to Vision 2030

The board approved school renewal plans for Vision 2030 after a presentation from Dr. Ruth, who described the district’s process for aligning school goals to the district strategic plan and state requirements.
Dr. Ruth explained that schools are required to set measurable (SMART) goals in three areas—student achievement, teacher/administrator quality and school climate—and to align each goal with district priorities such as Tier 1 instruction and PLCs. Schools that are identified as CSI, ATSI or underperforming must also address interventions for specific subgroups. "Every one of the goals also have to align with one or more of our district wide priorities," Dr. Ruth said. She described the annual progress‑monitoring steps and said that schools revisit goals each summer and may end or revise goals after review.
A trustee asked what happens if a school is not hitting milestones; Dr. Ruth said the state requires high ELA and math goals and that schools must document strategies, assign responsibilities and include a progress box in the plan so the board can review progress later. The board voted unanimously to approve the school renewal plans.
