District staff updated the board that the North Harrison Virtual Academy, created in the prior meeting, has opened and enrolled 33 students. Staff emphasized the program's goal of retaining students who had chosen other virtual options and said the academy is open to any student in Indiana.
"We have 33 kids enrolled in North Harrison Academy already," a staff member said, adding that the district had heard positive feedback and hoped to keep students connected to North Harrison. Staff also publicly thanked Lisa Jones, Megan Reynolds and Matt Cowles for their work developing the virtual program.
The board welcomed a new dean, "Marcy," who was present and introduced to the group. Staff said the district will wrap additional supports around new staff as they onboard for the upcoming year.
The meeting closed with the board thanking custodial and maintenance staff for campus preparations and recommending adjournment at 5:30 p.m.
