Council hears report that Mossyrock’s water loss is above target at 41.7%

Mayor Randall Sasser reported to the Mossyrock City Council that the city’s target for water loss is about 30 percent but that the current rate for June stood at 41.7 percent, driven by several major leaks. He said one large leak on Del Ray is awaiting Lewis County permitting before repairs can be completed and that other leaks have been repaired primarily by the crew performing boring operations.
Sasser noted infrastructure progress as well: a new lift station in the park that pumps sewage to the treatment center was completed a few weeks earlier. He framed the department’s near-term goal succinctly: “Goal is to bring percentage closer to 30%.” Council did not pose questions during the Treasurer’s acceptance of routine reports. The Public Works report also mentioned a future plan to clean and widen the trail to the mossy rock to improve access for residents.
