Board asks how APA will serve students with IEPs, ELLs and transportation needs

We have to take them as they come."
APA said it would provide tutoring and after-school programs intended to support special needs and underperforming students and that it is applying for a $100,000 grant to fund after-school services. Board members also asked about transportation: APA said charters are not required by law to provide transportation but that the team is pursuing appropriations and partnerships to ensure eligible students can be transported, including contracting with bus services if necessary.
Board members indicated they want more detail on staffing ratios, special-education staffing and how the school will meet IEP obligations before making an authorization decision.
