Tree initiative moves to advisory phase; NRAC to coordinate with UVU and water district
Summary
Following a successful presentation to City Council, the commission agreed to an advisory role on the tree initiative, recommending executive steering committee representation from the commission, urban forestry, parks, public works, communications, Central Utah Water Conservancy District, and Utah Valley University (UVU).
The commission reported that its tree initiative presentation to City Council was successful and discussed next steps to determine program ownership. The commission agreed it will plan to serve in an advisory role and suggested the executive steering committee include representation from the commission along with the urban forester, parks, public works, events, communications and outreach, Central Utah Water Conservancy District, and Utah Valley University (UVU).
Commission members requested Sarah’s slide presentation be made available; staff noted the slide deck is posted on the City’s website. The commission discussed engaging UVU students and community partners as part of outreach and implementation planning.
