Police chief reports training, call types and temporary coverage while out of town

Police Chief Dustin Sharkey reviewed recent department activity and training, reported a range of call types (traffic warnings, animal calls, agency assists, medical calls, parking complaints, vehicle fire and others), and said County would cover calls while he is out March 6–11; staff trained Jacob Limoges on water treatment plant emergency operations.
Police Chief Dustin Sharkey presented the department report at the March 3 meeting, listing incident types handled since the last meeting, including five traffic warning verbals, animal calls, multiple agency assists (including Union County and North Sioux City), driving and parking complaints, a vehicle fire, medical calls and water-treatment related training. The minutes also list one kidnapping report that originated out of state and was found to be unfounded.
Chief Sharkey said he trained Jacob Limoges on how to turn on the water at the treatment plant in case of fire and reported that the county will cover calls while he is out of town March 6–11, 2025. The minutes note an officer paid for his service weapon and transferred it into his name; a copy of the chief’s report is kept on file at City Hall.
