The Napavine City Council on June 23 voted 4-0 to accept Amendment #1 to the local agency consultant agreement for the Rush Road to Newaukum Valley project. The vote came after Public Works Director Will Tastad explained a funding change tied to the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board (TIB).
Tastad said the principal change is that TIB is no longer providing funds for engineering services and that the city’s tax-collected budget will cover the additional cost. He described the additional expense as an estimated $18,000–$30,000 depending on final construction costs. Councilor Ivan Wiediger moved to accept the amendment, and the motion carried unanimously.
Council documents show the motion passed on a 4-0 recorded vote. The amendment was presented under old business and no further public comment or amendments were made during the meeting. The city indicated the final construction cost could alter the ultimate amount required from local funds.
