Treasurer Michelle Whitten told the group the city may have REET and Capital Improvement funds available and that grant opportunities could be explored further during the budget season.
Council members expressed support for creating a community parks advisory group to guide planning but raised concerns about finding enough volunteers to sustain it. Public Works Director Will Tastad summarized current operations and workforce plans, saying operations are "normal" and that the city plans to continue the water apprenticeship program and has extended an offer to a candidate for summer help.
The workshop reviewed site-specific priorities citywide — from amphitheater upgrades and additional restroom needs to smaller maintenance items at neighborhood parks — and councilors directed staff to examine funding pathways during the budget process. The discussion emphasized that any formal advisory group's scope, membership and time commitment would need clearer definition before recruitment begins.
