Jefferson Council hires auditors as city enters continuous audit status; sets April 8 municipal election

The Jefferson City Council voted on Jan. 6 to hire ELO CPA’s and Advisors to perform the city’s required audits after officials noted the city is in continuous audit status because receipts exceeded $600,000 for 2022, 2023 and 2024. Council member J. Casper moved to hire ELO CPA’s and Advisors; J. Lokhorst seconded the motion, which carried.
The council also set the municipal election date for Tuesday, April 8, 2025. J. Lokhorst moved to hold the April 8 election in conjunction with the Elk Point–Jefferson school board election; J. Van Beest seconded the motion and it carried. The council did not record individual vote tallies in the minutes. The council discussed the audit engagement letter from ELO CPA’s and Advisors and authorized staff to proceed with the engagement.
